Timothy Coffield received B.A. degrees from North Carolina State University in philosophy and English, also studying linguistics and rarely playing left field for the NCSU baseball team. Before he became an attorney, Coffield taught writing at the University of Montana and worked as a wilderness guide for an adventure psychotherapy program.
Coffield lives in Charlottesville with Karen the Dog.
